Stories to give you hope in hard times and joy in waiting—through all life’s transitions.

Welcome to the United States

It was the winter of 2015. They said it was the worst snowstorm in Chicago in 20 years, but it was my first snowstorm ever. The snowstorm mirrored my feelings, I had left my home again. 9 years earlier, just 3 months after I got married, I relocated to the UK for my master’s degree. For 9 years, my family and I built a life, a home and a community. Now we were on the move again.

2 kids and another bun in the oven. I was unsure, torn between the life we built and the promise of another.

I had so many unanswered questions.

What would I do?

How would I build a community?

What would happen to my career?

How would I find my place?

We were going to start all over again..so many questions.

I was calm on the outside but inside was a raging storm, a flood of emotions. But the adult in me had to keep it together. Welcome to the United States, the immigration officer said with a smile as he handed me my passport. I managed a smile of my own as I thought to myself, another season has begun.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

Ecc 3:1-8: T

Can you relate? What’s happening in your season?

Cheering you on❤️
